Nursing Development
At the Nursing Centre we are committed to helping nurses with their professional development. The benefits of continued professional development impact on the individual nurse, the patient, the team, the organisation and the nursing profession.
Here's an overview of the types of programs we offer under the banner of nursing development.
Mentoring
If you are considering implementing a mentoring program to support your nursing workforce, we can help you. We have over 10 years experience in working with nurses across a range of areas to plan, design, implement and evaluate the mentoring process. Don't reinvent the process - contact us for mentoring program support today.

Preceptorship
Preceptorship is a key function in the lives of many new nurses - be they student nurses, graduate nurses, re-entry nurses or nurses in clinical transition. As the 'face' of nursing, preceptors have the potential to sigificantly impact on the nursing experiences and clinical learning outcomes of the novice nurse or nurse in transition. Our leadership program for preceptors is an ideal complement to initial preceptor training, and includes a mentoring group philosophy to foster peer learning and active reflection. Additionally, the Preceptor Leadership Program offers insight into contemporary nurses practices that help to develop a sense of belonging in the nurse learner, thereby improving learning outcomes on clinical placements.

Supervision Skills
'Clinical supervision is regular, protected time for facilitated, in-depth reflection on clinical practice. It aims to enable the supervisee to achieve, sustain and creatively develop a high quality of practice through the means of focussed support and development (Skills of Clinical Supervision for Nurses, Meg Bond and Stevie Holland). Complimentary to mentoring and preceptorship, our supervision skills training is designed to support both new and experienced supervisors.

Relationship Based Care (RBC)
Relationship based care (RBC) is a philosophy of patient care which puts the patient and their family at the centre of nursing care. The RBC model provides a conceptual framework with a vision for care and underlying values and principles, a practical infrastructure for putting it into action, the education and leadership necessary to make it happen and ways to measure evidence of success.
